Given that 5% of the population suffers from hyperhidrosis, it’s safe to say there are many celebrities out there who sweat excessively. However, not all of these celebrities speak openly about it.
Here are 5 women with confirmed or suspected hyperhidrosis. It’s nice to know we’re not alone!
1. Emma Stone
Back in 2016, in an interview with Ellen DeGeneres, Emma Stone revealed that she suffers from excessive sweating. She spoke about her experiences making the film “La La Land” with Ryan Gosling, saying, “I was just sweating all over him…I sweat a lot.”
2. Halle Berry
Halle Berry also spoke about sweating while on The Ellen Show. In 2010, she shared her sweaty armpit stains with the audience and Ellen tried to pat them dry with tissues.
Halle Berry has also revealed that she’s used Botox to treat her underarm sweat.
3. Cameron Diaz
Cameron Diaz was spotted with armpit sweat stains on the red carpet in 2012 at the premier of “What to Expect When You’re Expecting”.
She was also seen in 2009 with sweaty underarms at the Teen Choice Awards and again that year at the Golden Globe Awards.
This has led fans to suspect that she may have hyperhidrosis, although this is unconfirmed.
4. Penny Lancaster
On the other hand, Penny Lancaster confirmed that she suffers from hyperhidrosis. In fact, she spoke openly about her excessive sweating in 2017 on the television show Loose Women, saying, ‘It started when I was a teenager and I was doing exams. I had to wear white cotton gloves because on a page a few lines below (where I was writing) would get damp.”
She explained that she frequently feels embarrassed about her sweating, and said, “I have hyperhidrosis, you can see a little shining hand going on. A lot of the time they’re bone dry and fine but its something to do with the nervous system – I’m not nervous – but even when I’m excited and looking forward to something.”
She also shared that she tries to avoid shaking people’s hands, stating, “That’s why I always go in (for a kiss) when I meet someone.”
5. Hannah Smith
Part of the 2024 cast, Love Island USA’s Hannah Smith was very transparent about suffering from hyperhidrosis on both her hands and feet.
In her intro video, she said, “I was born with hyperhidrosis, so literally my hands and feet drip. When I was younger, I was always scared what people were gonna think, but to be honest, it really doesn’t bother people.”
So, sweaty ladies, we’re not alone! It’s refreshing to hear celebrities speaking openly about their experiences with excessive sweating and hyperhidrosis — and hopefully more women will be encouraged to do so as well.
